“ABB” High Voltage Switchgear in Alytus
“Conresta” has implemented an exceptional strategic electricity project and completed “LitPolLink's” electricity interconnections with neighboring Poland. Thus the Baltic and Western European electricity infrastructures were connected. The company was entrusted with the design of the Alytus High Voltage DC Interface Station and the 400 kV open switchgear.

“Conresta” has won a contract tender for the Swedish energy technology company “ABB”. The value of the project is 7.3 million euros. It is a part of the “PSE Operator S.A.” and “Litgrid’s” commitment to install a new electricity transmission link between Poland and Lithuania. “Conresta” was entrusted with the construction of two special purpose buildings with a total area of 1662.91 sq. meters. The company has also carried out the infrastructure development work, including bypass, connecting road construction, engineering network installation, etc.
The high voltage DC converter station was built in Alytus. The length of the 400 kV overhead transmission line in the territory of Lithuania is as much as 51 km. The newly built 500 MW DC insert has interconnected power transmission systems with the new 400kV substation. In addition, the substation on both sides of the interconnection was further upgraded: 330/110 kV substation in Lithuania, Alytus, and 400/110kV substation in Poland, Ełk Bis. They distribute the electricity supplied through the networks of both countries. General contracting and construction company “Conresta” was responsible for the construction of two special purpose buildings.

During the planning and construction of the project, special attention was paid to nature and ecological care. Prior to each construction phase, the whole area underwent research by ecologists and conservationists to ensure environmental protection and preserve rare, endangered species of flora and fauna.
