The construction of the new Lidl Lietuva (Lidl Lithuania) logistics centre, which lasted over 1.5 years, has finally been completed. The first employees are already settling into the premises near Lentvaris in Vilnius. At the moment, preparations are underway at the logistics centre. We hope to open the doors and start working soon.

The area of the new logistics centre is about 64 thousand sq.m, which is equivalent to the size of nine football fields.Investments in the project have reached over EUR 100 million.

There is already a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere at the new logistics centre. The first employees have started arriving at the new premises. The new regional company will house not only the logistics department but also part of the administrative staff. It will also include the goods flow management department as well as personnel and sales departments. It is estimated that more than several hundred specialists will work in the new logistics centre: about 30 administrative employees and about 200 logistics specialists.

‘The construction works, which lasted over 1.5 years, were carried out with true professionalism: from project preparation to implementation. Completed construction allows us to enter a new stage: welcoming new employees and preparing the premises for work. Very soon, the logistics centre will be opened and work will proceed at full speed, ensuring that the Lidl stores located in Eastern Lithuania are even more efficiently and quickly supplied with fresh goods, thus ensuring the best value for money on the market,’ says the head of the central office of Lidl Lietuva (Lidl Lithuania), Marius Kybartas.

Construction was supervised and implemented by professionals

Many professionals contributed to the successful implementation of the project. The construction of the new logistics centre was managed by the general contracting company Conres.

‘The project stands out, first of all, due to its size, as the area of the storage building alone is over 64,000 sq. m. In addition, three more separate buildings have been built on the territory, meaning that the entire territory makes up almost 14 hectares. The structure also stands out in its height, which reaches 20 m. Due to the extent of the project and the short construction period, we managed around 400–500 workers at the construction site at the peak of the works. Careful planning allowed us to proceed with the works according to the plan, and the project was implemented on time,’ says Ernestas Šeženis, the CEO of Conres, the company that handled the construction process.

The exclusive project of the new Lidl logistics centre was prepared by the architects from the Unitecus company, and the construction supervision was carried out by the construction project management company AZCM. Its CEO Andrius Jančiukas says that the construction of one of the largest logistics centres in Lithuania went smoothly and professionally.

It’s a rare occasion that a construction project of this scale runs so smoothly. In this case, however, the construction work went on as planned – the logistics centre was built on time and to the highest quality standards. I sincerely thank our client Lidl Lietuva (Lidl Lithuania), the designers and the general contractor for their professional cooperation and smooth construction process. I am sure that we all gained even more knowledge and experience while carrying out such a complex project,’ says A. Jančiukas.
