On behalf of the pharmacy chain Eurovaistinė, the real estate development company Galio Group is starting the construction of a new logistics centre in Vilnius, on Zigmantiškių Str.The general contractor of the project is Conres.

In the summer of next year, the new 11.8 thousand sq. mA++ energy efficiency class building is planned to host probably the most modern pharmaceutical logistics centre in the Baltic states. The investment of the project is set to reach EUR 22 million.

Sustainable solutions will help ensure compliance with pharmaceutical standards

The real estate development company Galio Group, which is developing the project, describes the new Eurovaistinė logistics centre as a built-to-suit project, adapted to the specific needs of the customer. Most of the area is intended for storage facilities and includes innovative solutions for the reception, storage, automated collection, distribution and dispensing of medicinal products, food supplements, cosmetics and other similar categories of products. At the same time, when planning the project, both the customer and the project developer paid great attention to long-term solutions to preserve natural resources.

‘This logistics centre will be built to meet the highest sustainability standards. The energy class of the building will be A++. Probably the most sustainable functionality of the logistics centre is that the building will be heated using geothermal wells, with the possibility of installing a solar power plant.

As the tenant has extremely strict requirements for temperature and humidity maintenance and control, advanced high-precision heating, refrigeration, cooling and ventilation air-tight systems have been designed, which will make it possible to ensure the right temperature, humidity and cleanliness throughout the process, during both the unloading or loading of products and, of course, for storage.

A bright roof with a facade is also worth mentioning; this will make it possible to further reduce energy consumption for cooling. The building is being built with the idea of receiving the BREEAM ‘In-Use Excellent’ rating,’ says Nerijus Maknevičius, the CEO of Galio Group.

Technological advances to ensure the availability of required medicinal products

According to Tomas Kibildis, the Chairman of the Board of Eurovaistinė, the new logistics centre will use advanced technological solutions necessary for the logistics of medicinal products and medical devices.

‘When starting the construction of the new logistics centre, we will strive to meet pharmaceutical requirements both now and in the future. Furthermore, we will make every effort to ensure the availability of the necessary medicinal products throughout the country. It is planned that the new logistics centre will allow us to import a wide range of various medicinal products and other medical devices that must be transported and stored under very specific conditions. Undoubtedly, it is also very important for us that the new logistics centre ensures comfortable, modern and overall ergonomic working conditions for our team. We will also strive for operational efficiency and apply environmentally friendly solutions,’ says T. Kibildis.

The automated zone conveyor assembly system will serve the storage, assembly and replenishment zones that employ different technologies and vary in permeability, and it will allow extremely fast and accurate processing of the flow of goods, as well as efficient use of the storage space. Combined conveyor, A-frame and Pick-to-Light systems will ensure the fast and accurate assembly of goods, which is especially important when processing large flows of the most popular medicinal products. The Equinox Vision 7 warehouse management system will allow for the planning and optimising of all warehouse processes while also reducing labour costs and the risk of errors. These modern solutions for the pharmacy chain are developed and implemented by the international logistics process optimisation supply company Equinox Europe.

The Eurovaistinė logistics centre will be built on a plot of 4.6 ha on the capital’s Zigmantiškių Street, near the border between the Vilnius city and Trakai district. The works for the logistics centre will be implemented by the general construction contracting company Conres.

‘We have implemented many logistics centre projects, so I am confident that our team’s accumulated long-term experience and competencies will allow us to ensure the smooth implementation of this project. We will finish the works in the first half of next year. Our goal is to build spaces that meet the highest construction standards while working not only with quality but also with comfort,’ shares Ernestas Šeženis, the CEO of Conres.
