‘The works on the new logistics centre commenced last September and are going smoothly, and the wreath raised at the construction site symbolises that the major construction works have already been done and the next stage begins. The new logistics centre is an important phase in the company’s development, as the number of Lidl stores in Lithuania increases, and their proper supply has to be ensured in order to provide customers with the best value for money. The new logistics centre will stand out with its modern and sustainable solutions, which will help to ensure even more efficient network operations, and it will also allow us to work in a modern environment and employee-friendly way,’ says Marius Kybartas, Head of Central Service at Lidl Lietuva (Lidl Lithuania).
The construction of the new logistics centre is being handled by Conres, a general contracting company with many years of experience. During the peak periods of the works, more than 350 company employees and subcontractors are working on the project construction site.
One third of the construction work has already been completed
The new logistics centre of Lidl Lietuva (Lidl Lithuania) is planned to start its operations in 2024. A third of the work that started last September has now been completed: the soil has been compacted, foundations and rostwerks have been buried, columns, roof-supporting structures and plinth panels have been mounted, water supply and main sewage networks have been laid and water wells have been installed. The installation of the external walls and the laying of the profiled roof decking are almost completed.
Ongoing works are as follows: roof insulation and waterproofing, preparation for the industrial floor, installation of an automatic fire extinguishing system, installation of an internal water supply and sewage networks, setting up the main ventilation networks, internal electronic communications and internal and external electrical networks, and preparing the structural covering layers within the boundaries of the plot.
‘We have gained a great deal of experience in building logistics centres for both Lithuanian and foreign investors; therefore, the work is going smoothly and in accordance with a thoroughly prepared plan. We work with several hundred subcontractors and suppliers, and it’s quite a challenge, but our experience allows us to meet the customer’s expectations of having a fully ready-to-use facility in the shortest possible time,’ says Lukas Laukaitis, the CEO of the general contracting company Conres.
