Kauno rajone „Conresta“ pradėjo renovuoti Mastaičių baseiną, statys dar tris mokyklas

A capsule was bricked up in the Mastaičiai locality, containing a letter to future generations that announces the beginning of the revival of the old swimming pool. Construction work has also begun on an elementary school and a kindergarten on the adjacent plot. In total, Conresta will build three new schools in the Kaunas district.

The children of Mastaičiai were delighted by the class held outdoors and the tricks that were shown by the illusionist Mantas Wizard. The class was also attended by the heads of the Kaunas District Municipality, as well as builders, architects, representatives of the Lithuanian Police School and the local community.

Olympian swimmer Deividas Margevičius, who lives in the Alšėnai eldership, was glad that the Kaunas District will have a swimming pool that meets European standards for a new generation of athletes to train.

‘As the birth rate increases, there is a shortage of available places in kindergartens and primary schools. We invest increasingly more in education each year, but the efforts of the municipality alone are not sufficient. We hope that partnership with businesses will help us to solve this problem faster,’ said Kaunas District Mayor Valerijus Makūnas.

The works are being carried out under the public-private partnership (PPP) agreement that provides for the renewal of the educational infrastructure facilities in Mastaičiai, Kačerginė and Zapyškis until 2022.

BaltCap Infrastructure Fund will invest EUR 13.6 million, which will be used to reconstruct the primary schools in Zapyškis and Kačerginė, to renovate the Mastaičiai swimming pool and to build a primary school with a kindergarten on the adjacent plot. The projects will be implemented by a general contractor – the construction company Conresta. Experienced managers of the company have confirmed that all three objects will be built by autumn next year. 500 additional places for students’ education will be available in the new schools.

The Mastaičiai swimming pool will be fundamentally modernised. The building will be insulated and renovated. There will also be saunas, a spa centre and a small swimming pool for children. After the reconstruction of the Kačerginė school, an annex with a gym, library and leisure spaces will be constructed. The installation of a gym and modern technology rooms in the annexe of the Zapyškis primary school is planned.

This is the Lithuania’s first public-private partnership project in the field of education.
