Gold Medal in the Construction and Building Materials Industry category:
Construction of the Litgrid Management and Data Security Centre – JSC Conresta

The aim of the Lithuanian Product of the Year competition is to increase the competitiveness of high-quality Lithuanian products, as well as to introduce and establish the country’s high-quality products, goods, and services to local and international consumers, thereby encouraging them to choose these products.

Representation of the Lithuanian State on the Global Stage is improving the country’s image

The Litgrid facility has been recognised as an economic project that is important to the state. The facility complies with the physical security requirements for those enterprises and facilities that are of strategic or high importance to national security, under the control approval of the Minister of Energy. The new Electricity Management and Data Security Centre is of great importance, as Lithuania is purposefully preparing to join the synchronous grid in Continental Europe and to manage its frequency independently. The most important synchronisation projects will take place in this facility. From 2025, Lithuania will have independent control of its electricity frequency for the first time in 80 years. This means that Lithuania will be able to manage its energy system reliably, safely, and independently. This Litgrid centre will ensure more stable and secure operations for the country’s energy system and better management of the transmission flows. After the synchronisation, the centre will be used to control the frequency of the electrical system, while ensuring the necessary physical and cyber security of the system controls. The System Management and Data Centre will be among the most modern in Europe.

Using innovations in the construction

Modern technologies have been used in the construction process, which stands out due to an abundance of complex and unique solutions. When designing this special purpose object, advanced complex solutions needed to be designed to ensure the security and functionality of the building. Modern technologies were chosen for the security systems employed at the Litgrid facility. Highly reliable protection and fire detection solutions will allow for a faster and more efficient identification of incidents.
The construction of the new centre also includes proper perimeter protection, room segmentation, installation of a necessary mandatory return function for the electronic access control system, a vehicle checkpoint, highly reliable mechanical barriers, a duplicated fibre waveguide and many other safety measures. The building features system management and data centres which will create suitable conditions for the employees in the system management and other administrative units.
