“Litgrid” system control and data center

According to the Ministry of Energy, the center will ensure a more stable and secure operation of the country’s energy system and management of transmission flows. After synchronization, this center will control the frequency of the electrical system and provide the required physical and cyber security of the system control center.

The construction of the new center (building) will allow proper perimeter protection and room segmentation. There will be an electronic access control system providing the necessary mandatory return function, a vehicle checkpoint, high reliability mechanical barriers, duplicated fiber optics and other security features. The new building will also house system management and data centers, and provide appropriate facilities for staff working in system management and other administrative departments.

“This is where the whole frequency of the system is going to be controlled from and people will make decisions here. At Žvejų street, this is done as agreed in the current IPS/UPS synchronous zone. At the moment, the agreement is that centralized management is all done in Moscow, whereas in Europe there is already a decentralized approach to it. That’s what we’re going to do here – decentralized it,” in an interview with BNS said Mr. Virbickas.
